WONA (Women’s Organisations National Alliance) is the first women’s humanitarian consortium in Ukraine, bringing together three women-led organisations: the NGO ‘Divchata’, the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organisation ‘Convictus Ukraine’ and the NGO ‘Association of Roma Women “Golos Romni”’. The consortium brings together the expertise and resources of organisations focused on the protection of rights, safety, support and recovery of individuals and communities.

Objective

To help women, girls and vulnerable groups affected by the war in ten regions of Ukraine to reduce security risks and improve access to essential services and rights through accountable and gender-sensitive humanitarian assistance, victim-centred measures to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, as well as comprehensive support in the areas of healthcare and livelihoods, provided by a consortium of national women’s rights organisations.

Key activities

Prevention and response to gender-based violence: case management, psychological and psychiatric support, financial assistance and dignity kits for survivors, referral to other necessary services, awareness-raising on gender-based violence, and psychosocial support measures.

Psychosocial support measures in the context of mental health: individual and group psychological support, psychiatric counselling, mental health case management, and raising awareness of mental health.

Supervisory support and capacity-building for communities: work placements for professionals from local self-government bodies, centres and shelters; provision of individual support for frontline professionals based on an integrated supervision model.

Target groups

women and girls who have been affected by war, displacement or violence, or who are at heightened risk.

Depending on the needs and content of individual programmes, assistance may also be provided to: men and boys, children and adolescents, families, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, representatives of national communities, and other high-risk groups.
