The NGO ‘Divchata’, the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organisation ‘Convictus Ukraine’ and the NGO ‘Association of Roma Women “Golos Romni”’ have established WONA (Women’s Organisations National Alliance) — the first women’s humanitarian consortium in Ukraine.
For us, this is not simply a union of three organisations. It is an opportunity to achieve more by combining our experience, expertise, community knowledge and understanding of the needs of those affected by the war.
WONA covers 10 regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia, Kyiv and the city of Kyiv.
We work to support those who find themselves in difficult life circumstances or facing systemic barriers, in particular people who have experienced violence; people with disabilities; internally displaced people; and members of Roma communities.
What do we do together?
We help survivors of gender-based violence — providing psychological and legal support, case management, financial assistance, essential care packages, and helping them find a safe route to the services they need.
We support mental health through individual and group work, psychiatric support and MHPSS case management.
We improve access to health services, particularly sexual and reproductive health services.
We help restore economic independence through vocational training, support for self-employment, career counselling and start-up kits.
We strengthen communities and local professionals so that they can better respond to the risks of violence, support survivors and protect people’s rights.
Why a consortium?
The main task of each of our organisations is to listen to people, understand their needs, help them find safe solutions and remain by their side during times of change. By joining forces, we will be able to do this even more systematically and on a larger scale, ensuring sustainable change in communities, regions and across the country.
WONA will run from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2028.
And we plan to fill these two years with partnership, sisterhood and change.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the WONA Consortium in collaboration with the NGO Divchata, the NGO Association of Roma Women Golos Romni and the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organisation Convictus Ukraine, with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office.
