dARTs (Diagnostics, ART, Support) — Achieving the Targets
Objective
To ensure that people living with HIV have access to diagnostic medical services, prevent interruptions in antiretroviral therapy, retain patients in care, and monitor the effectiveness of HIV treatment.
Target Groups
People living with HIV who are receiving antiretroviral therapy at healthcare facilities in the regions covered by the project.
Key Activities
Within this project, AUCO Convictus Ukraine implements a set of organizational, logistical, and support measures aimed at ensuring the continuity of HIV treatment.
The organization ensures the regular and uninterrupted supply of antiretroviral medicines to people living with HIV in order to prevent treatment interruptions. It also coordinates the transportation of blood samples from ART service delivery sites to regional and interregional laboratories in accordance with approved schedules.
The project provides support to people newly diagnosed with HIV or at an advanced stage of HIV infection, particularly those facing financial hardship. Support includes ensuring access to costly diagnostic examinations, including computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Special attention is given to organizing transportation for seriously ill individuals and persons with disabilities to healthcare facilities for necessary examinations and treatment.
When needed, the project offers consultations for people living with HIV on restoring personal documents. In addition, consultants are provided with mobile communication tools to track individuals who have missed scheduled healthcare visits and to support their return to treatment.
Geographical Coverage
Kyiv City, and Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
Partnership and Support
The project is implemented with the support of the International Charitable Foundation “Alliance for Public Health,” funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and carried out in cooperation with regional healthcare institutions.
