Objective: To provide access to prevention services and testing for vulnerable populations in remote areas of Kyiv city and region.
Mobile clinic is an important tool to bring testing for HIV, hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections to those who need but do not use it because of the remoteness of the region or unwillingness to go to health care facilities. The mobile clinic is staffed with a multidisciplinary team consisting of a doctor, a nurse and a social worker.
Target population: vulnerable populations of Kyiv city and Kyiv region.
Services: rapid testing for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chlamydia and gonorrhea; referrals to health care institutions in case of positive rapid test results; health counseling and training to develop safer sex skills; syringe exchange, distribution of information materials, condoms, alcohol pads; CD4 cell count by PIMA portable analyzer; referrals for rehabilitation and detoxification, etc.
A Mobile clinic has been operated by Convictus Ukraine since December 2014 and has proved its efficiency and importance in bringing testing and prevention interventions to remote at-risk groups.
Program implemented in close cooperation with regional health care institutions (Kyiv Regional Center for AIDS Prevention and Control, Kyiv City AIDS Prevention and Control Center, STI clinics) with financial support from ICF Alliance for Public Health.
